چکیده

The viscothermal wave propagation of the air inside the resonators is efficiently described by the so-called low reduced frequency model. Using this model, absorption coefficients can be calculated for different configurations. The theory has been implemented together with an optimisation algorithm, so that the dimensions of the resonators can be optimised to satisfy any desired absorption level within a specified frequency range. Experimental validation of the optimised configurations is performed by means of impedance tube measurements.

25th INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS OF THE AERONAUTICAL SCIENCES IMPROVEMENT OF THE SOUND TRANSMISSION LOSS OF PANELS BY MEANS OF ACOUSTICALLY TUNED RESONATORS

When a panel is excited, either structurally or acoustically, sound is radiated from the panel. Previous research by the author has shown that tuned acoustic tube resonators can be used to reduce the radiated sound. A one-dimensional analytical model model was validated by experiments in an impedance tube and good agreement was found between model and measurements. In this paper, the model is e...

Application of acoustically tuned resonators for the improvement of sound insulation in aircraft

One of the aims of the EU project FACE (Friendly Aircraft Cabin Environment) is to reduce aircraft interior noise. For modern aircraft flying at cruise conditions, the turbulent boundary layer is the main source for cabin noise. Normally, the turbulent boundary layer causes the trim panels to vibrate, and hence to radiate sound into the aircraft cabin. The purpose of the present work is to redu...

A Finite Element Approach to the Prediction of Sound Transmission through Panels with Acoustic Resonators

Previous research by the authors has shown that sound radiated by a vibrating panel can be reduced considerably by using tuned acoustic resonators. The length of the tube resonators determines the frequency range in which sound is reduced. The shape of the spectrum is determined by the ratio of the cross-sectional areas of the resonators to the area of the panel. Maximum sound reduction is achi...

Experimental and Theoretical Analysis of Sound Absorption Properties of Finely Perforated Wooden Panels

Perforated wooden panels are typically utilized as a resonant sound absorbing material in indoor noise control. In this paper, the absorption properties of wooden panels perforated with tiny holes of 1-3 mm diameter were studied both experimentally and theoretically. The Maa-MPP (micro perforated panels) model and the Maa-Flex model were applied to predict the absorption regularities of finely ...

Acoustic metamaterial panel composed of funnel-shaped cell unit having multi-band negative material properties

This paper presents two dimensional sound-proof acoustic metamaterials having tunable multi-band negative effective mass density. The acoustic metamaterial panel was composed of many periodic funnel-shaped cell units into square lattice. Each unit cell operates as multi-band resonators. By tuning unit cell the local reflected acoustic wave was almost out of phase with the incident wave. It lead...
